Bring your practical can-do attitude and experience in data collection to the Environmental Monitoring team who are focused on collecting accurate data from a range of environments including, groundwater, rivers and lakes, sea level, water quality and meteorology.Great Job:You will get involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of monitoring sites, plus operate a wide variety of technology including data loggers, remote control boats and drones as you maintain the environmental monitoring network. While you will be travelling the rivers, mountains and coastline of the district that boasts high sunshine hours, there will also be an equal amount of office-based work. You will ensure instruments meet calibration, process data for quality assurance and contribute data to the environmental data archive. You will have the opportunity to be involved in data analysis and maintaining data telemetry systems.About you:This role suits someone who enjoys the outdoors; we work in a variety of environments and terrains which can be physically demanding, so you'll need to be a confident swimmer and have a reasonable level of fitness. You'll like working autonomously and are also happy to share ideas with and work in a team. Ideally you will have a minimum of three years' environmental data collection experience. However, those who have practical experience in electronics or a trade qualification and an aptitude for maths/physics are also welcome to apply.Remuneration appropriate to level of competency, with alternatively a Trainee or Senior Environmental Monitoring Officer role possible.Great people:We're a small friendly team within a dynamic Information Science and Technology group that work closely with others supporting Council's efforts in resource management, water allocation, , engineering design and flood warning - with information also being heavily used by the local community, as well as for national studies.Great perks:Climate and lifestyle are some of the major factors for people choosing to live and work in the Tasman District.
