Job DescriptionGeneral Manager - FinanceTo nurture sustainably our taonga and resources for current and future generations of Wairarapa Moana Whanau.Wairarapa Moana Incorporation (“WMI”) is one of New Zealand's larger farming operations milking 12,000 cows across 3,850 hectares in dairy platform and a further 1,500 hectares in dairy support. The group also owns 5,800 hectares of forestry and is a foundation shareholder in Miraka Ltd.WMI has five key outcomes: to protect and enhance the land; to grow businesses beyond current assets; to be an industry leader; to enhance shareholder pride; and to ensure shareholders receive annual dividends.The General Manager - Finance is a key member of the Senior Management team and is responsible across financial, accounting, and business support functions. With a tertiary qualification in finance or business, your experience, analysis and insights, along with a proven ability to collaborate across the business will be vital in driving strategic outcomes for WMI. You'll likely have done a decade in the workforce, allied closely to agribusiness, and be looking for a role that can consolidate or even launch your executive career.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the finance, property and HR portfolios
  • Preparation and presentation of consolidated financial reports
  • Monitoring and reporting on investment activities, including farming, forestry and property portfolios
  • Provision of financial management along with non-financial farm business performance so operational managers can make timely and appropriate decisions on farm
  • Consolidated and profit centre budgeting across a range of business entities
  • Risk management including oversight of regulatory matters, contract management and banking requirements
Who We Are Looking ForWith such a wide-ranging portfolio we're looking for an accomplished leader with a deep understanding of the on-farm factors that drive financial outcomes, particularly in the dairy sector. You'll be able to contribute usefully as a whole of business leader and your strong commercial acumen and exceptional analytical skills will mean you can call out the important issues early and offer sage advice. Needless to say your systems knowledge will be honed and your ability to influence and mentor others to get the best outcomes will be well proven. Experience in the Maori Agri-Business sector will be advantageous.Key Competencies

  • Excellent communication, with an ability to engage effectively across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Cultural awareness, particularly in Māori practices and language
