We aim to ensure that the health system enables our communities to stay well, recover and live healthy lives – together.We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Acute Community Services, to work alongside our Intake & Acute Assessment Team based in the Community and at Emergency Care, Middlemore Hospital. You will be motivated, enthusiastic, and a highly professional Doctor, who is ready to work as part of a dynamic team, delivering quality equity-focused mental health care.The Intake & Assessment service provides mental health triage, acute assessments, short term treatment interventions, risk assessment, psycho-education, and support of people experiencing urgent mental health and co-existing drug and alcohol issues. The Home Based Treatment service delivers an acute clinical to service users either in their own home or in a community facility enabling the service users to receive treatment with minimum disruption to their lives.This role provides clinical leadership for our acute community team, and has the opportunity to contribute to policy, procedure and service development, and supporting the team through the next stages of health sector reform. The Consultant Psychiatrist will act as a role model for high standards of care by supporting an environment where excellence can flourish.We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a genuine commitment to the people who we serve, within the diverse and culturally rich community of Counties Manukau. Our candidate will demonstrate, excellent communication skills, be highly organised, and possess honesty, integrity and professionalism. You will need to have the ability to promote teamwork and navigate through the challenges of providing complex care to whaiora with complex presentations, by promoting a strong team culture and function, and a genuine focus on equitable health systems and outcomes.Supported by the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to strategic and service development. Working alongside the Service Manager, Acute & Hospital Services, the Clinical Head and members of the Senior Leadership Team, you will support implementation of service goals, and grow a workplace of excellence, by applying the latest evidence to inform the model of care.Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in the scope of Psychiatry and a current APC is essential at commencement of employment.
