Our main purpose is to contribute to public safety (particularly the protection of vulnerable members of society) and national security, by providing Police vets for employers and others to assess the suitability of individuals for roles where safety and security considerations apply.We are seeking an Advisor to join our team and play their part in keeping New Zealander's safe.The Advisor is responsible for providing guidance, expert advice, and high-level support to members of the Vetting Service, its customers, and stakeholders. The Advisor contributes to continuous improvement, makes informed decisions that mitigate risk, and engages with our internal and external customers, contributing to the care and protection of children and the vulnerable, and to wider national security in accordance with legislation, Police processes and polices, and Service Group priorities.Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage the receipt, processing, and completion of complex vetting requests or high-risk matters that have been escalated for review.
  • Manages responses to Parliamentary Questions, Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests, as well as IPCA complaints and agency requests for information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation and Police policies and recommend required changes in practices and procedures within the Police Vetting Service.
  • Understand privacy concerns and legislative changes to meet relevant statutory obligations where appropriate.
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership, coaching, and mentoring practices to facilitate individual and team development.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and an ability to analyse information and draw appropriate conclusions in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive and collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy.
  • Demonstrate a high level of resilience.
  • Demonstrate a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and being adaptive to changing priorities and demands.
