These full time, permanent jobs present excellent opportunities for specialists in intensive care medicine to join the Intensive Care Services in a tertiary Care Hospital in New Zealand which provides medical and Surgical services to a population of almost one million people.The hospital has over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, a major trauma centre, neurosurgery and Mental Health and Addiction. It is a regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.The ICU is a state of the art, 16-bed facility providing general adult and paediatric intensive care, catering to the needs of 1500 ICU patients and almost 3000 HDU level patients each year. There is also a retrieval service by both air and road for critical care patients and a large contingency of cardiac patients.The ICU is on the path of expansion, increasing bed capacity and has been credentialed by the College of Critical Care Medicine at level C24 and for training of junior and senior medical staff.Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • You will be accountable for functioning effectively as a consultant, providing optimal, ethical and patient centred medical care
  • You will establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to your practice
  • You will perform a complete and appropriate assessment of a patient
  • You will use preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions effectively
  • You will demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills, both diagnostic and therapeutic.
Role RequirementsTo be successful in your application for this opportunity as the Consultant Intensivist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
  • A degree in medicine - MBBS, MBChB, MD
  • Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent specialist qualification
  • Medical Council of New Zealand vocational registration or eligibility for this in the scope of intensive care medicine.
  • Both single and dual trained specialists are encouraged to apply. Those with subspecialty interests including cardiac, paediatric, research and academia will be supported
Remuneration and Benefits
If your application is successful, you can expect the following benefits:
  • Salary details: $170,369 - $250,560
  • Pension benefits
