Based at our Middleton depot, you'll play a vital part in keeping KiwiRail's Rolling Stock fleet safe and operational.You'll be hands-on with maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding, supporting incident recovery, and providing on-the-job guidance to operators. Every day will be different - from routine servicing to critical operational support - but each task will help keep our rail network moving.Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting Rolling Stock assets
  • Supporting incident recovery and operational activities, such as shunting and piloting
  • Training operators on safe use of equipment and carrying out safety checks
  • Recording accurate maintenance documentation and safeguarding equipment
  • Performing oil and water servicing, inspections, refuelling, and other frontline maintenance tasks

  • Mechanical or engineering experience
  • Knowledge of rail operations or similar industries
  • Full Class 1 New Zealand driver licence
