
Summer Internship – Chemical, Electrical or Control Systems Engineer

- Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
- Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
- Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.
- Process Plant Improvements.
- Complete mini-trials with the Plant Metallurgist to improve plant performance and control.
- Work with the Control Systems Engineer to complete PowerBI reports and improve database reporting.
- Setup a Gold-room critical variables page.
- Support work to identify critical spares for site.
- Review recently updated plant piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Support development of Mechanical SOP's.
- Improving plant efficiencies and processes.
- Working amongst our engineers, processing team and underground crews gaining experience in chemical, electrical and control systems engineering based at Waihi underground mine.
- In your 3rd or final year of study (Chemical, Electrical or Control Systems Engineer)
- Have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas
- Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Full Drivers License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
- Availability to participate from mid-late November, through to mid-February (2025-2026).
- Based at our Waihi Operation, one of New Zealand's largest gold mines.
- Work on “real-life” projects, related to your field of study.
