
Summer Internship – Underground Geology

- Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
- Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
- Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.
- Core logging, Geotechnical core logging, Core photography, Core sampling, Underground mine technician duties.
- Working amongst our underground crews and the Geology team maintaining core logging and sampling support to the underground mine operation.
- In your mid 2nd to final year of study (Geology or Earth Science related field).
- Have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas.
- Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Full Drivers License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
- Availability to participate from mid-late November, through to mid-February (2025-2026).
- Based at Waihi Operations, one of New Zealand's largest gold mines.
- Work on “real-life” projects, related to your field of study.
