Emergency Department Registrar - accredited with the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine (and currently in the process of applying for ACEM accreditation)Emergency Services - Health New Zealand - South Canterbury, Timaru Hospital6 Months Fixed Term, Full Time - starting July 2024Looking for that elusive Registrar role where you won't be competing with all of the other Registrars on your team for access to the best cases or Consultants to work with?If you will be a PGY3 (or more) House Officer or are a Registrar looking to broaden your clinical exposure in the field of Emergency Medicine, then Health New Zealand - South Canterbury / Timaru Hospital could be the ideal place for you.We have a genuinely rare chance for a Registrar to join our Emergency Team, who are all keen to teach. This role is also suitable for Registrars who require Emergency Department exposure to satisfy other College requirements, or those who wish to gain more experience in Emergency Medicine at the Registrar level before making a specialist career choice.While this role is Full Time, there is real scope to create the personal time to commit to other interests as our afterhours expectations are not overwhelming. There are no night shifts.Professionally speaking we are looking for a doctor seeking to extend themselves. You would be working in a facility with CT/MRI on site, in an informal (almost extended family) atmosphere.

Time for study is built into the role, and you will be linked in with a tertiary ACEM training centre for regular teaching sessions.
While you will be a valued member of the team, the role is supernumerary and so education and annual leave requests will likely be granted.
