An exciting opportunity for a general ophthalmologist to work in a permanent full time position in a rural public hospital serving the population of the Gisborne region with general secondary medial and surgical services.Highlights
- 40 hour week
- On call rota 1 night per week, 1 weekend in 4
- be responsible for delivering specialist eye care through four outpatient clinics and two operating lists per week.
- perform general ophthalmology assessments, YAG and Argon laser treatments,
- job includes teaching and mentoring junior doctors
- contribute to ongoing quality improvement and service development.
- provide ophthalmology specialist opinion to clinical colleagues
- salary as per ASMS Agreement

- Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration in Ophthalmology with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- FRANZCO or equivalent qualification
- Experience in general ophthalmology and familiarity with modern investigative and treatment techniques
