Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleIn this role of Senior Analyst, you will be able to contribute to transforming the future of health by working with the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information using both local and increasingly available national data sets across Health New Zealand.You will be responsible for using best practice methodologies to provide consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, produce accurate reports, support responses to OIAs, parliamentary questions, and media enquiries, and contribute to performance monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Your work will help inform strategic planning and ensure accountability across the Lakes district within Health New Zealand.About the Team & LocationThis role sits within the Health Analytics team, part of the Planning, Funding and Outcomes function. The team plays a critical role in delivering data-driven insights that support decision-making to deliver equitable, effective health services across Aotearoa.The position is based at Rotorua Hospital and covers the Lakes District, which includes Rotorua, Taupo and surrounding areas. The primary but not sole area of responsibility is supporting the senior leadership of Lakes District Hospital & Specialist Services.About youWith an extensive background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods. You will be committed to developing your analytical skills and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets that support decision-makers.As a Senior Analyst within the Health Analytics Team, you will have:
Knowledge of appropriate visualisation and analytical tools and data techniques to elicit high-quality insights, create and validate dashboards (e.g. requirements gathering, data cleansing, development of insights and process mapping)
An excellent understanding of the fundamentals of analytics and how the discipline is used to create business and customer value
Strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to present and defend decisions in a manner appropriate to the needs of the audience.
Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgment to develop options and provide advice.
Knowledge of the Health Sector and the government
A relevant graduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience
