You'll lead a talented team of producers and presenters, ensuring the programme is sharp, responsive, and relevant, both on-air and online.This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll:
Oversee the daily production and live broadcast of the show
Guide story development and editorial decisions
Respond to breaking news and direct rolling coverage when needed
Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture
Grow the digital reach and impact of the programme
Ensure content meets RNZ's editorial standards and public service values
Ōu Pūkenga - About YouYou're an experienced media professional with a strong editorial instinct, a passion for public service journalism, and the leadership skills to bring out the best in a high-performing team.You'll bring:
A journalism qualification or equivalent experience in radio production or broadcasting
Senior editorial and/or research experience, with a deep understanding of local, national and international current affairs
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, support and develop others in your team
Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of language
A broad general knowledge and a curious, creative mindset
Confidence in live radio environments, including breaking news and rolling coverage
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
A collaborative, calm and solutions-focused approach
Experience with digital production tools, editing software, and news operational systems
Budget management and strategic planning experience is a plus
