RNZ is Aotearoa New Zealand's independent, commercial-free public service broadcaster. We exist to inform, challenge, and inspire, serving the public interest with trusted journalism and compelling storytelling.We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Executive Producer to lead the production of Nine to Noon on RNZ National, a flagship programme that informs and engages listeners across the motu every weekday morning.Te Mahi - About the jobAs Executive Producer, you'll be responsible for the editorial direction, tone, and delivery of Nine to Noon. You'll lead a talented team of producers and presenters, ensuring the programme is sharp, responsive, and relevant, both on-air and online.This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll:
  • Oversee the daily production and live broadcast of the show
  • Guide story development and editorial decisions
  • Respond to breaking news and direct rolling coverage when needed
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture
  • Grow the digital reach and impact of the programme
  • Ensure content meets RNZ's editorial standards and public service values
Ōu Pūkenga - About YouYou're an experienced media professional with a strong editorial instinct, a passion for public service journalism, and the leadership skills to bring out the best in a high-performing team.You'll bring:
  • A journalism qualification or equivalent experience in radio production or broadcasting
  • Senior editorial and/or research experience, with a deep understanding of local, national and international current affairs
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, support and develop others in your team
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of language
  • A broad general knowledge and a curious, creative mindset
  • Confidence in live radio environments, including breaking news and rolling coverage
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • A collaborative, calm and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience with digital production tools, editing software, and news operational systems
  • Budget management and strategic planning experience is a plus
