Job Category: EngineeringDegree Level: Certificate Level 4Job Description:Te Tūranga/About the RoleWe are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our engineering team, responsible for the hands-on day to day electrical repairs and maintenance within our strong, stable and progressive engineering team.You will have the opportunity to be involved in projects and installation of new site equipment as well as a wide range of mechanical engineering applications across the site. If you are interested in using your electrical skills on a large industrial food processing site, and like the idea of working for one of New Zealand's largest food exporters, we look forward to hearing from you.Our site operates both day and evening shifts. Our Maintenance teams are required to work a roster covering production hours which run between 6am and 3pm Monday to Friday and often includes overtime during the day on Saturdays, so flexibility to business needs- understanding of this is important- but in return we will provide you with good renumeration, great training/ development and a stellar team of work mates who not only want to see you succeed- but will support you along the way.Ōu Pūkenga /About You:Previous experience in FMCG or transferrable production engineering environments would be an advantage, but the key is the ability to work as part of a team, to identify faults and use analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the processing plant. Comfortable working in an independent capacity, all the while being entrenched as part of a maintenance team, candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done as well as thinking outside of the box - we appreciate and encourage new ideas and thought processes about how we can collaborate across our site to ensure the get to the root cause of issues and fix it right - first time.The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Relevant Trades Qualification and Full NZ EWRB Electrical registration
  • Good knowledge of sound electrical principals and repairs and maintenance procedures on a large industrial processing site - or a passion to learn in this environment.
  • Exposure to PLC and VSDs in a past role
  • Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you.
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a tight knit team of engineering support
  • Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a challenging engineering environment and lead by example from the front.
  • Desire to keep learning and upskill - be this in a leadership scope or dual trading into refrigeration or even project design.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and issues.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems and components.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and upgrades.
  • Document all maintenance activities and keep accurate records.
  • Train and supervise junior electricians or apprentices as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in electrical maintenance.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions to electrical problems, minimizing downtime.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Electrician with a valid practicing license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good physical condition with the ability to work in various environments.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as required.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
