We aspire to provide high quality inpatient care to patients with acute mental health needs and/or complex age-related health conditions. We work in partnership with our patients, their families, the clinical team and community carers and supports to achieve the best possible health outcomes.Casual staff need to be available for all shifts (morning, afternoons and nights) and for weekends and school holidays. Casual positions offer flexible working hours and opportunities to apply for internal positions when they become available.About the Team/Service/ LocationOlder Person's Mental Health is growing and developing service providing physical and mental health professional development opportunities for the right applicant. You will be joining a great team that values teamwork and is committed to supporting the best possible health outcomes for our elderly patients. You will work alongside our multidisciplinary team consisting of specialist nurses, health care assistants, occupational therapist, physio, social worker, psychiatrist and psychologist.About youYou will have current NCNZ registration and practising certificate, with no conditions that exclude Mental Health Scope of Practice, and a minimum of one year's post-registration nursing experience is desirable.You will have knowledge of:
Physical and mental disorders commonly experienced in older persons
Contemporary treatment approaches including person-centred and trauma informed care, sensory modulation, and non-pharmacological interventions
Therapeutic use of psychiatric medications
Holistic mental health and risk assessment and care planning
Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992
