Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleThis is a new and exciting role, working with women who are pregnant or have children under the age of one who are experiencing moderate to severe mental illness associated with the pregnancy, birth, or baby.This may include birth trauma and/or significant maternal distress.This role is one day or 8 hours a week and is working alongside the Maternal Mental Health Clinicians who are part of the Maternal, Infant, Child, Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Service (MICAMHAS) in Whanganui.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe MICAMHAS Team consist of Registered Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Co-Existing Alcohol and Drug Clinicians and Psychiatrists.The Maternal Mental Health Clinicians work with pregnant women or women with babies under the age of one who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues that are associated with the pregnancy, childbirth or baby.For more information on living and working in Whanganui clickAbout youIt is expected that you will have an understanding of the impact of social determinants on pregnant women and infants and the importance of cultural connections while fostering a strength-based model of care, with a current New Zealand Psychologist Registration.Whanganui MICAMHAS uses the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) as a service model so the ability to work collaboratively with mothers and babies, and whanau, encouraging resilience and problem-solving skills is an important aspect of this role.Being able to develop and maintain working relationships with our Whanganui community partners is essential.
