Structural Designer/DrafterTe whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Designer/Drafter to join our Southern Building Structures team in Christchurch. You'll play a key role in delivering structural design documentation across a range of building projects, working closely with engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, high-quality outcomes.This role offers variety and challenge, with opportunities to develop your technical skills and contribute meaningfully to project delivery. You'll be involved in:
  • Preparing and overseeing structural drawings for complex projects, ensuring alignment with company standards, quality systems, and budgets.
  • Managing and verifying electronic drawing exchanges and coordination.
  • Delivering design documentation from concept to completion, meeting quality and technical excellence.
  • Providing structural design guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Communicating design intent clearly to internal teams and external clients, building strong working relationships.
  • Contributing to tender and bid submissions, showcasing Beca's design expertise.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and optimise project outcomes.
Ko wai koe | About youYou're a motivated drafter with a passion for structural design and a desire to grow your career. You bring:
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in building structures design.
  • Extensive experience in applying design and drafting principles within a consulting environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and best practices.
  • Certification/recognition from a professional design body is preferred.
