He angitūtanga: The opportunityAuckland Council's Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) team has an opportunity for a Senior Advisor - Emergency Relief to join our Business and Welfare (emergency relief) and Recovery function, in a brand-new role.This is a critical role for the Council and will focus on and drive, with the Head of Business and Welfare, the development of tools, plans, process and systems ensuring these are in place for coordinating emergency relief across Tāmaki Makaurau.You could expect to work on:
  • Co-design (and facilitate) with our Capability Team the development and delivery of welfare training programmes, to build capability of staff and volunteers in Civil Defence Centres
  • Creating and maintaining SOPs for welfare (emergency relief) sub-functions
  • Participating in CDEM exercises to test and enhance emergency relief processes
  • Supporting continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from responses and
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, community groups and partners in the development and monitoring of relevant plans and emergency relief arrangements
  • Oversee and enable the coordination and delivery of needs assessment during a response
You can find a copy of the position descriptionHe kōrero mōu: About youThis role requires experience in the emergency management and welfare coordination space. You will have experience in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:
  • Proven experience in emergency welfare planning and delivery
  • Strong understanding of Civil Defence and Emergency Management frameworks
  • Ability to design and implement training programmes, including delivery and facilitation
  • Experience developing operational procedures and SOPs
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-agency collaboration
