We welcome one and all to join us at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.NZQA is seeking a Senior Project Manager who brings strong project delivery expertise, a collaborative and inclusive approach and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, to lead complex cross-functional projects that directly impact strategic goals.Mō tēnei tūranga | About the roleAs Senior Project Manager you will lead and manage projects to enhance assessment functions, especially changes impacting multiple business units. You'll manage projects that affect multiple teams, making sure everything runs smoothly on time, and within budget. This role is all about collaboration — within your team, as well as across the Division and the wider organisation — to design solutions that meet real needs.You'll use inclusive, client-focused approaches, keep risks under control, and make sure project outcomes support NZQA's long-term goals.Key responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of projects using Agile, Prince2, or other structured approaches
  • Manage scope, risk, budget, and timelines across multiple workstreams
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, sector stakeholders, and external providers
  • Apply co-creation methods to reflect stakeholder needs
  • Support governance through clear reporting and decision-making artefacts
  • Coordinate planning and readiness across business units
  • Champion inclusive design and equitable outcomes

  • Proven experience in project leadership and delivery
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience preparing NZ Government-standard business cases
  • Ability to manage risks, change, and performance tracking
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and public sector values
  • Knowledge of te ao Māori is an advantage
