We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Project Manager, in Tauranga who will be responsible for planning and overseeing, from start to finish, civil projects including roading, pavement, commercial building site preparation and residential subdivisions. The duties include building and staying within the budget, retrieving the necessary permits to construct in certain communities and communicating the client’s goals for certain projects to the subcontractors and construction workers. Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects at a given time (2-3 projects ranging from $100K to $2 million)
  • Manage all aspects of civil projects such as roading, pavement, and commercial buildings including foundation, drainage, sand pad, car parks and kerbs.
  • Act as the Site manager for teams of about 6 people.
  • Work directly with customers.
  • Build the project plan
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and other workers in the same project
  • Choose subcontractors and delegate their responsibilities
  • Responsible for any delays, emergencies and problems that can arise
  • Comply with safety and building codes as well as legal requirements
  • Report project progress and budget to client
  • Explain contract and technical matter to others in a clear manner
  • Prepare budget and cost estimates with QS team, along with work timetable
Experience Required
  • 5+ years of overall construction industry experience
  • 3+ years of Civil Project Management experience in New Zealand managing all types of civil projects.
  • Ability to run projects and act as site manager for projects in the Bay of Plenty (mostly the greater Tauranga area)
  • Experience with MS Project and MS Office tools.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
