Te whiwhinga mahi | The OpportunityWe are seeking applications from registered nurses, social workers and occupational therapists who have an interest in community acute work but have no specific experience. You will have completed at least 1 year of post graduate employment in a mental health service and have completed a post graduate certificate in mental health.The Community Acute Service provided by Te Toka Tumai is made up of 2 functions. Our Planned Acute Care teams and our Urgent Response Service. As a member of our Community Acute Service you will work across both parts of the service. The Community Acute Service operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.We have 4 Planned Acute Care teams, each working from one of our community mental health centres - Cornwall House (Greenlane), Kāinga Tiaki Centre (Mt Eden), Manaaki House (Panmure) and the Taylor Centre (Ponsonby). These teams provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic treatment options offering intensive home support to tāngata whai i te ora and their whānau when increased intervention is required. As a key member of this professional, dedicated team, you’ll be assessing and managing the needs of service users that are referred to the service with an acute mental health presentation and increased risk.Our Planned Acute Care Team members are rostered into our Urgent Response Service (including weekends and nights). The Urgent Response Service is often the first point of contact for tāngata whai i te ora presenting to mental health services. They assess tāngata whai i te ora who require an urgent mental health assessment within 72 hours of referral. The Urgent Response Service operates with 5 clinicians 7 days a week 8am-11pm, with a reduced service offered overnight. This is a dynamic team that responds assertively to the acute mental health needs of tāngata whai i te ora in the community.We welcome applications from those staff who are currently completing their post graduate certificate in mental health and addictions who will complete this by the end of 2023.This is an exciting opportunity to join the skilled community acute clinicians in our teams.
