This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.Te whiwhinga mahi | The OpportunityThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Health Promotion team as Advisor Whānau Ora. Advisors are entry-level advisors with developing subject matter expertise, writing and relationship skills.. The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of projects within the Health Promotion directorate by providing advice and coordination.Mōu | About youYou are someone able to gather and research information, write and provide advice and support. Willing to learn to achieve this in a range of formats for a range of audiences, to inform decision-making. You have some experience, knowledge and skills in relation to strategic health promotion policy in an Aotearoa context.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, and/or a minimum two years appropriate equivalent experience
  • Experience, knowledge and skills in relation to working with Māori and Pasifika people/groups/communities
  • Previous experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
  • Some experience in contract management, including a proven ability to work with a range of suppliers
  • Experience in project management and administration skills, effectively coordinating multiple activities and monitor outcome achievement
  • Health sector and/or government experience and knowledge of government structures and processes
  • Able to build constructive and effective relationships with stakeholders to build a sound understanding of their operational environment and context
  • Developing knowledge and skills to deal effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics
