Are you a forward-thinking Civil Engineer or Risk Manager with experience and interest in managing risks within large-scale infrastructure projects?We are seeking a Risk Manager/Risk Specialist to join our Project Delivery team based in Auckland or Wellington. In this pivotal role, you will support our Senior Risk Manager in playing a critical part in developing risk strategy, identifying, managing, and mitigating risks associated with large infrastructure projects, including facilitating workshops and providing guidance and contributing to the successful delivery of our projects.We are incredibly passionate about the culture we have developed within our Project Delivery team, if you value autonomy, mastery and purpose in your work and will thrive in a team environment where every day is different, we'd love to speak to you! We are ideally looking for someone who has a background in civil engineering combined with an interest in risk management who has worked in the civil infrastructure industry or a commercial risk manager/evaluator with a keen interest in infrastructure.In this role you will:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy for projects.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities related to project timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Collaborate and support project teams to ensure structured risk practices are undertaken including to assess, prioritize, and mitigate risks.
  • Use risk assessment tools and risk modelling methodologies (Monte Carlo) to support the understanding of potential impacts (including financial and time) of identified risks.
  • Analyse and evaluate risk assessment and modelling data to create risk assessment reports and recommend actions.
  • Regularly review and update Risk management plans both strategic and project related.
  • Facilitate risk workshops and support the development and update of associated risk registers.
  • Interfacing with key stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, facilitating workshops and also assisting client relationship building.
  • Promoting the use of digital tools and sustainable practices within projects.
  • Ensuring the risk management deliverables within projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Nā tōu rourou | What you'll bringYou will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with the ability to work independently and show leadership in your work. You will be passionate about risk management and infrastructure and your work experience will include a relevant background in engineering related project or commercial risk management.To be successful you will require excellent communication, both written and verbal, enjoy working as part of a team and have the flexibility to adapt quickly to changes. You will need to demonstrate strong logic and organisation in your approach to project management.You will also have:
  • Proven experience in either civil engineering or commercial risk management or both with an interest and understanding of large infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years industry experience in project management preferably in civil engineering/ energy/water markets
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent, ideally in Civil Engineering or Science
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, with preferred experience in a consulting environment
  • Proven use of manipulating spreadsheets (e.g. excel) and report writing capability
  • Good understanding of the project delivery lifecycle
  • Strong Commercial and contractual acumen
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong project management, communication and facilitation skills
  • An innovative and collaborative approach
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer, Certified Project Manager or similar professional certification.
