Real is the youth brand of Pathways. Real Whanganui's youth service is called Whetū Marewa (Rising Star). The aim of this service is to build the confidence, resilience, and wellbeing of taiohi, aged 12-24 years, with mental health and addiction related issues. Support combines a positive youth development approach with brief intervention. Registered health professionals and youth workers provide support in locations where young people are, such as schools and in the community with the goal to provide easy access to support for those who need it.What we offer | Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou

We're looking for a Youth Worker to join our Whetū Marewa youth service. If you are passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, resilience, and wellbeing, and would like to work with a great team, we want to hear from you.This is a part-time role working Monday to Thursday either 8:30am to 2:00pm, or 12:00pm to 5:30pm.This role is fixed term with an end date of 17th April 2026.Responsibilities include:
- Supporting taiohi (12-24 years) with mild and moderate mental health and addiction concerns
- Brief intervention and positive youth development model of care
- Youth coaching and mentoring
- Kaupapa Māori cultural interventions including a focus on positive cultural identity, whakapapa, kapa haka and waiata
- A range of recreational and cultural activities as a way of engaging taiohi as well as helping them to build skills and confidence, community connections and healthy, wellbeing focused lifestyle choices
You will:
- Ideally hold a level 4 qualification in Youth work
- A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
- A full clean NZ driver's license.
- Demonstrated experience working with young people with complex mental health and addiction needs.
