Claybrook Farms Ltd is a fifth-generation family-owned dairy farming business located near Morrinsville, Waikato. The farm has a 132 hectare effective milking platform (147 hectares total) on predominately flat contour, milking 430 cows through a 39-aside Herringbone shed under a pasture-based System 2. The business focuses on sustainable production, environmental responsibility, and animal welfare.Duties and Responsibilities:
The Farm Manager will report to the Farm Owner and be responsible for:
  • Managing herd health programmes, including calving management, somatic cell count (SCC) control, vaccination programmes, and treatment of animal health issues.
  • Pasture and feed management to maximise grass utilisation and to equal KgMS produced to 100% Liveweight of the Jersey herd.
  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery, being able to fix and problem solve on the spot.
  • Taking full ownership of the operational targets to create a leading farming system with efficiencies and the environment at the forefront of the decision-making process.
  • Supporting a positive team culture and contributing to effective communication within the team.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Minimum 10 years' hands-on dairy farming experience, including herd management responsibilities.
  • Proven skills in grass-based dairy systems and pasture management where they are currently producing 100% liveweight in KgMS per annum.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated application of animal health and wellbeing Alongside proven reproduction management; this may be demonstrated by for example
  • AI Certification
  • Delivery of 6 week in-calf rates 78% and higher.
  • Previous off-farm rural professional experience will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment where you are one with the team, working alongside them to deliver the farming philosophy and targets set out by the Farm Owners and yourself.
