We make communities better for people to live, work and play in - keeping the lights on, the trees trimmed and the parks green.We’re looking for a passionate and practical individual to join our dedicated team of Kaitiaki as a Horticultural Ranger. Based in Dunedin, you’ll work across a variety of stunning natural environments including forests, wetlands, sand dunes, and grasslands, contributing to meaningful restoration and revegetation projects.About the Role: As part of a small, hands-on team, your work will include:

Riparian planting and native forest management
Noxious weed control
Track construction and maintenance
Community tree planting initiatives
Opportunities to support planning and ecological monitoring

About You: You’ll bring a strong work ethic, a love for the outdoors, and a practical mindset. Ideally, you’ll have:

A current and clean driver’s licence (Class 2 is a bonus)
Experience in one or more of the following: landscaping, horticulture, forestry, carpentry, ecology, or conservation
Solid practical and mechanical skills, with a knack for problem-solving
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
Competence with tools and equipment such as line trimmers, chainsaws, ATVs, and 4x4 vehicles

Desirable qualifications include Growsafe certification and Wheels, Tracks & Rollers, but we welcome applicants with relevant experience and the right attitude.What We Offer
