Job Role: Community Support workerWe are currently seeking experienced & qualified Community Support Workers for our 24/7 spinal injury complex care client living in Oxford, with potential for permanent shifts in the future. These are for Casual Cover Shifts, with the opportunity for permanent work in the future, therefore allowing you more flexibility!The Ideal candidate would have experience in assisting clients with injuries or managing complex care scenarios, which include personal care, bowel & bladder care, and hoisting.If successful, you will be joining a team of skilled staff, working within a positive and supportive environment. We are looking for people who would be comfortable working on a roster (am, pm, and weekends included)Your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with our client to provide support as they go about their daily tasks.
  • Assisting the client with complex personal care, home help, shopping assistance, and meal preps.
  • Ensuring the client's comfort, safety, and well-being at all time
  • Supporting exercise programs and medication.
  • Moving and handling using hoists and manual transfers
  • Assisting the client to access the community.
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including AM, PM, and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.Pay Band: $23.38 - $29.10 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement by the Ministry of Health – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity)Job Location – Oxford (Waimakariri, Canterbury) – The client is located in the rural Oxford area and is approximately 1-hour drive from Christchurch.Employment Type: CasualThe ideal candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
  • Understanding of spinal injury care protocols and procedures is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in complex cares (for example bowel & catheter cares) is preferred but comprehensive training will be provided
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Health and Wellbeing would be an advantage.
  • Access to your car and a Full Driver's License is a requirement of the role (as this is community-based work)
  • Flexibility to work on a roster (including weekends)
  • Good communication skills, compassionate and flexible
  • Legal rights to work in New Zealand
