Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura PounamuAt Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our Kaiako engage with ākonga both online and face-to-face. As part of the role, you will facilitate Huinga Ako (Learning Advisories) once a week, alongside working closely with colleagues in our regional offices. We also provide flexible working options, allowing up to two days per week of work-from-home arrangements.Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this positionWe're looking for a passionate and innovative Kaiako with expertise in literacy and numeracy acceleration to join our Learning Delivery team.In this role, you will be:
  • Supporting the assessment and tracking of ākonga progress in literacy and numeracy acquisition
  • Undertaking relevant training in the accelerated learning approach
  • Contributing to the design of the Literacy and Numeracy Acceleration Course
  • Delivering synchronous and asynchronous teaching to identified ākonga using Te Kura online systems
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of the programme in accelerating literacy and numeracy acquisition

  • A current New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate
  • Experience with accelerated learning approaches
  • A proven ability to support at-risk ākonga in improving literacy and numeracy outcomes
  • Competence in using data to inform targeted teaching strategies
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to ākonga needs, with strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and supportively within a team environment
  • A deep understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and current assessment practices.
  • Future-focused pedagogies that engage and inspire ākonga.
  • Strong collaborative relationships with ākonga, whānau, and colleagues.
