Sustainability, community, and a down-to-earth culture are at the heart of everything we do.About the role:As an R&R Electrician, you’ll be at the front line of keeping our fleet operational. You'll respond quickly to electrical faults on active vessels, often in high-pressure environments where access is limited and time is critical. Working as part of a shift-based team, you’ll carry out accurate diagnostics and high-quality repairs that restore service and minimise disruption.Beyond immediate fixes, you'll play a key role in long-term fleet reliability, identifying root causes, contributing to preventative strategies, and helping to integrate advanced vessel technologies. This is a highly collaborative role, where success depends on strong communication with vessel crews, engineers, and Marine Assets leadership, all underpinned by a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.Key duties
  • Respond quickly and effectively to electrical faults across our fleet to minimise service disruptions.
  • Perform real-time diagnostics and electrical repairs on vessels under time pressure and with limited access.
  • Apply expertise across power distribution, propulsion, navigation, HVAC, alarms, and more.
  • Contribute to smarter preventative and predictive maintenance strategies using data insights and condition monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with vessel crews, engineers, and shift teams to maintain operational continuity.
  • Support a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Work on a 4-on / 4-off roster covering early morning to late-night operational hours (05:30–23:30).
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
  • A recognised NZ trade qualification as a Maintenance Electrician or Engineer (NZQA/NZCE or equivalent)
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic expertise—especially in time-critical situations
  • Confidence in assessing operational risks and making informed, real-time decisions
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to adapt and prioritise in a dynamic environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, especially when translating technical issues to non-technical teams
It’s a bonus if you also have:
  • Experience working in marine, transport, or other high-availability operational environments
  • Familiarity with systems such as PLCs, propulsion control, battery storage, or vessel monitoring
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring tools and predictive maintenance technologies
  • Experience in shift-based or 24/7 operations, ideally in a fast-paced setting
