Located on the stunning Takapō lakefront, our Astronomy Centre blends cutting-edge science with Tātai Aroraki (Māori astronomy) in a globally unique experience.About the RoleWe're looking for a Customer Service & Retail Assistant / Kaiāwhina Kiritaki me te Hokohoko to join our passionate team. This is a hands-on role where you'll:
  • Welcome and engage with visitors from around the world
  • Manage bookings and provide exceptional customer service
  • Support retail operations including merchandising, stock, and sales
  • Assist with food & beverage service and kiosk operations
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse and inclusive team
  • Embrace and support Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori
What You'll Bring
  • Previous customer service experience (retail or hospitality preferred)
  • Confidence using POS systems and multitasking under pressure
  • A warm, friendly, and professional approach
  • Willingness to learn and use te reo Māori
  • Availability for night shifts (up to 2am), weekends, and public holidays
  • Commitment to at least 1 year (permanent preferred)
