Job Overview
Seeking a registrar in emergency medicine or rural medicine for a full time contract commencing available now in a rural hospital in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand.Position Highlights:
  • High-level support and training from experienced consultants and senior medical staff
  • Opportunities to teach and mentor junior doctors (SHOs) and medical students, contributing to their professional development.
  • Undertake clinics under appropriate supervision to enhance your skills and proficiency
  • Participate in general ward work to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Fulfill after-hours on-call duties aligned with the consultant’s roster, with appropriate support provided. On call is one in five nights and weekends.
  • Accredited DRHMNZ training site for a Level 3 Rural Hospital Medicine attachment and an ACRRM accredited training site for secondary and emergency care.
  • Hospital can also support FACEM trainees to complete a Special Skills Placement.
  • Hospital has a 24/7 Emergency Department, inpatient unit, primary birthing unit, theatre and outpatient clinics with many community health services on site. There is an onsite laboratory and radiology services with a new CT scanner.
Professional Requirements
  • Eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • PGY3+ level of experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
Remuneration Package
  • Salary and allowances NZRDA or STONZ
  • 6 weeks annual leave, 10 days study leave plus NZD 16K for expenses
