You will be reporting to a Team Coach and join a compassionate team at our Crisis and Planned Adult Respite Service. This is where you'll be met with a warm and home-like environment which we provide as a safe space for Tangata whai ora.You will work alongside dedicated Support Workers to help Tangata whai ora rest, support with recovery, and reconnect with their wellbeing journey. Our four-bed service offers short-term time away from home or for Tangata whai ora transitioning from inpatient care, back to community living.This is a permanent, full-time position. You will be working 3pm - 11:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday. Based in New Plymouth.Responsibilities include:
Make a real impact by helping people live well and thrive. As a Support Worker at Pathways Adult Respite, you'll:
- Connect individuals with resources and tools to build their own kete of coping strategies and techniques.
- Foster meaningful community relationships through connecting Tangata whai ora to other services, and community groups.
- Support positive and meaningful life changes
- Offer a compassionate, listening ear.
- Provide Tangata whai ora with support with day-to-day activities
- Provide support, going out into the community on outings.
- Provide medication support for Tangata whai ora
- NZ full driver's licence
- Current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
- Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW), Level 4.
- Support Worker experience or similar
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the primary care sector
- Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
