Higgins Manawatu is seeking an experienced Surveyor to join the team based at the branch in Palmerston North.As a Surveyor, you will provide survey services, including quantity measurement, to support construction across multiple work sites. Responsibilities include installation of benchmarks, accurate set-out of construction elements, record-keeping, topographical surveys, plan drawing in CAD software (Magnet office) monitoring data, and ensuring efficient use of survey equipment and best practices while managing survey control points.What you'll bring to the role
  • At least 5 years of relevant New Zealand surveying experience
  • Diploma in Surveying or equivalent industry qualification (Bachelor of Surveying preferred), Connexus papers also considered
  • Experience in using Topcon field and office software is desirable but not necessary as training on site will be given
  • An understanding of survey methodology, civil construction, and paving processes
  • Proficiency in GNSS GPS, robotic total stations, and the ability to carry out quality closed loop level runs using dumpy or digital level
  • An understanding of earthworks volume calculations
  • Experience using UAV/drone is desirable with Pix4d and Virtual Surveyor software, however training will be provided as necessary
  • Effective time management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Clean full class 1 licence
