A Consultant Radiologist is sought for a busy provincial city hospital in New Zealand performing over 100,000 procedures annually. The radiology department provides general diagnostic imaging services and limited interventional radiology procedures. It is well resourced with technology including X-Ray; CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, fluoroscopy, two CT scanners (256 slice and 16 Slice) and a 1.5T MRI.Here is your chance to join a multi-skilled, tight-knit team and relocate to one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand. The radiology department encourages development of special interests and on-going education. Multi-disciplinary meetings are held weekly with involvement from all specialities. allowing for a close collegial working environment.Key Role Responsibilities and Duties
  • You will ensure that appropriate radiological studies are performed to
investigate a given clinical problem and vet incoming diagnostic referrals for appropriateness using recognized access criteria and suggest alternative imaging where relevant. * You will perform and report radiological procedures and carry out or supervise ultrasound examinations of various types with credentialing requirements.
  • You will ensure that reports are dictated and authorised on a continuing and timely basis. The expectation is that the level of outputs should be in keeping with recognized international standards
of practice. * You will liaise with hospital and GP clinicians to provide specialistopinions and further recommendations as required. * You will be available to respond to referrals from the EmergencyDepartment and provide timely turnaround of formal radiology
reports in accordance with rostered responsibilities * You will advise the referring clinician of urgent or unexpected incidental findings identified on imaging.
  • You will participate in the after-hours on-call Radiologist roster
  • You will ensure all documentation and processes meet International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) standards and contribute to departmental clinical quality assurance including regular clinical audit, case reviews (mortality and morbidity reviews, audit, clinical and departmental meetings).
  • You will provide clinical supervision and teaching for registrars, house surgeons and medical students.
Role RequirementsTo be successful in your application to this rare opportunity as the Consultant Radiologist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
  • Medical Degree and FRANZCR or equivalent specialist qualification in radiology (both diagnostic and interventional)
  • Evidence of procedural competency in basic interventional procedures
  • Eligibility for Medical Council of New Zealand registration under the vocational pathway in the scope of radiology
  • A fellowship in a subspecialist field would be preferable
  • Demonstrated understanding of departmental / service development and the provision of strong clinical governance.
Remuneration and BenefitsIf successful in your application to work as Consultant Radiologist, you can expect the following benefits:
  • A salary in the range of NZD 190000-270000 pa DOE
