Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a cardiac Sonographer at Waikato hospital, Australasia’s largest Hospital campus and major tertiary hospital you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality cardiac care. Your responsibilities will include performing and reporting on transthoracic echocardiograms, as well as assisting with transoesophageal studies and other echo-guided procedures. You will support both inpatient and outpatient services, including urgent assessments in the Emergency Department, ICU, and operating theatres. In addition, our service extends to satellite echocardiography clinics in surrounding communities, offering a diverse and rewarding scope of practice.We foster a workforce that is innovative, motivated to grow, and committed to delivering compassionate care.   • Undertake a full range of echocardiographic examinations and complete technical reports
  • Complete preliminary reports with Cardiology/Echo system
  • Identify, demonstrate and report cardiac pathologies
  • Participate in TTE and TOE lists within the department as well as mobile and bedside examinations when required
  • Support other more complex procedures in the operating theatre and cardiac catheter lab when required i.e. Percutaneous valve replacement, PFO and ASD/VSD closure devices and balloon valvuloplasties
  • Participate in the on call after hours service
  • Perform an echo list at one of our satellite hospitals

  • Be registered as a sonographer with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board (MRTB) with a current practicing certificate;
OR * Have an appropriate qualification for cardiac sonography acceptable for registration as a sonographer with the New Zealand MRTB
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
