This is a diverse role where you'll be involved from start to finish - quoting, designing, coding, commissioning, and supporting automation systems. It's a hands-on engineering position that values practical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to understand how machines really work.Key responsibilities include:
- Design and quoting of tailored automation solutions
- PLC programming using Rockwell/Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms
- Drafting of control systems and panel layouts
- On-site commissioning (some travel required)
- Troubleshooting and service work (approx. 20-50% of the role)
- Direct client interaction - managing expectations and ensuring successful project outcomes
We're looking for a practical, well-rounded engineer with:
- A strong understanding of machinery automation and control systems
- PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Allen Bradley and Siemens)
- Familiarity with complex I/O configurations and system integration
- A hands-on, solutions-focused approach and a genuine interest in how machinery operates
- The ability to manage projects independently and communicate effectively with clients
- Experience in timber, packaging, or similar industrial sectors (ideal but not essential)
- $100 – $125K Depending on experience
