Internship Applications are now Open!Are you a talented and ambitious university student studying business computing, computer or network engineering and you're looking to gain practical experience in your field of study? We have the perfect opportunity for you to join our Information & Technology team at OceanaGold Waihi operation.This paid internship opportunity will run approximately from mid to late November through to mid-February (dependent on exam timetable of the successful applicant).What will you, be doing?
  • Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
  • Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns, providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
  • Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship, showcasing your growth and achievements.
Specific project work will involve:
  • Work with IT staff on transitioning from aged to new technologies.
  • Updating network documentation to reflect new equipment and connectivity.
  • Add new equipment to monitoring software.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Replace old switches with new equipment and test operational.
  • Update network documentation to reflect new equipment layout to a professional standard.
  • Remove all old equipment from monitoring systems.
  • Ensure all new equipment is monitored in systems.

  • In your mid 2nd or final year of study (Business Computing, Computer or Network Engineering fields).
  • Have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas.
  • Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Full Drivers License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
  • Availability to participate from mid-late November, through to mid-February (2025-2026).
