He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the RoleWe currently have two roles within our Early Intervention school-based mental health service, based with the Whakatāne Kāhui Ako. A Kāhui Ako is also known as a Community of Learning or a cluster of schools usually in a geographical area.In this role you will work with the wider team in health, community and education to ensure that tamariki with mental health and wellbeing needs are identified, and interventions are put into place to support their emotional and mental health resilience from a whānau perspective.The skilled professionals we are looking for will be passionate about providing mental health early intervention and prevention to Tamariki in Years 1 - 8. You will be innovative, creative and comfortable working primarily in a schools-based setting.While these roles will mainly be based in Whakatāne you will also provide support and services to the other two Kāhui ako in the Eastern Bay of Plenty – Putauaki and Opotiki within their Learning Support Delivery models.The successful candidates will be experienced Child & Adolescent Mental Health Professionals (Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Counsellors) ideally with knowledge of the changing needs of the communities of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Kāhui ako and the competency to work effectively within diverse communities.
