He angitūtanga: The opportunityThis permanent full time Park Ranger will primarily be based at Te Rau Puriri (South Head) and Muriwai Regional Parks, with the potential to support operations across the wider Western sector, including the Waitākere Ranges. There is also the possibility of on-site accommodation at Te Rau Puriri, subject to negotiation.Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilitiesThis role involves a variety of hands-on and people-focused tasks. You'll be responsible for managing and supporting volunteers and external stakeholders, liaising with visitors at campgrounds and arrival areas, and performing general park maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all.Additional responsibilities include:

Assisting with farming operations where required
Leading conservation efforts at Te Rau Puriri
Overseeing and auditing contractors
Supporting historic site protection programmes
Conducting and overseeing recreational asset maintenance and inspections

Has experience in farming operations and can assist with the day-to-day running of the regional park farm space (preferred)
Is passionate about working with volunteers, iwi, community groups, and park visitors
Has sound practical experience and the ability to carry out minor repairs
Holds a current NZ full driver's licence and can drive a manual vehicle
