We are looking for a technically strong, people focussed professional to join our Quality and Risk team - a team that plays a critical role in safeguarding audit and assurance quality and upholding trust in our brand.As a key member of this team, you'll be a go-to person for our partners and practitioners. Whether it's helping navigate the nuances of international standards, facilitating technical trainings or developing templates and tools that raise the bar on audit quality, your work will influence how we deliver excellence across our firm.This is a diverse, high-impact role where no two days are the same.Depending on your experience and interests, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing clear practical guidance to our audit and assurance teams on the application of both local and international standards (e.g. ISAs, ISREs, ISAEs) and firm methodology.
  • Performing pre-issuance reviews of modified and non-standard audit and assurance reports.
  • Providing timely, practical and technically sound coaching to auditors and assurance practitioners, through involvement in our in-flight coaching programmes and other quality initiatives.
  • Designing and delivering technical trainings, both virtually and in person, helping grow capabilities across our New Zealand offices.
  • Developing tools, templates, and resources that help practitioners deliver high-quality work.
  • Keeping us future-ready, by staying close to the latest global and local standard setting activities and contributing to the firm's voice in regulatory and professional consultations.
  • Owning aspects of our system of quality management and contributing to the day-to-day activities that form the foundations of how we manage quality.
  • Collaborating with other subject matter experts and leaders across our Asia-Pacific network to shape thought leadership and promote audit and assurance quality across the region.
  • Mentoring the next generation of audit and assurance technical guru's by supporting the growth and development of junior members of the Quality and Risk team.
QualificationsYour expertise:As a senior expert with experience in audit and assurance quality and risk, you will have the following credentials:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience serving audit clients or in an audit quality role.
  • Strong audit expertise, including knowledge of global auditing and assurance standards. Some general knowledge of New Zealand audit and assurance standards is preferred.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified with CAANZ (or global equivalent).
You are someone who:
  • Has a passion for contributing to and facilitating the continuous improvement of audit and assurance quality.
  • Communicates with clarity, with strong facilitation and presentation skills - comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, coaching others, and delivering training to a range of audiences.
  • Brings a blend of technical capability, curiosity and a people-focused mindset.
  • Is a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills - takes initiative, can work independently, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to work through complex or ambiguous problems.
  • Is authentic, driven by excellence, with strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Has excellent project management skills, with the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment, contributing to multiple projects or workstreams with professionalism and care.
  • Brings digital confidence with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), eagerness to explore new platforms, and a curiosity about how emerging tech, including AI, is shaping the future of audit and assurance.
