Te whiwhinga mahi | The OpportunityThe focus of this role is primarily dispensing and counselling for discharged patients and clinic outpatients. There is an opportunity to develop retail and OTC sales as there is a large number of staff working on site as well as many visitors. As a senior pharmacist and 2IC to the Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient work-flow within the dispensary to provide quality outpatient pharmacy services. You will also be required to support the Pharmacy Manager in providing leadership and guidance to pharmacy staff and assist with overall pharmacy service provision. It is expected that this role works closely and collaboratively with the Pharmacy Manager to plan, promote and develop the future direction of quality outpatient pharmacy services at Te Toka Tumai Auckland. This will require high levels of communication, co-operation and initiative.Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important SkillsAs the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
  • Qualified with a B.Pharm degree with NZ registration or applicable NZ recognised qualification from overseas, postgraduate clinical qualifications are desirable.
  • Registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate. Please see below if you are an overseas registered pharmacist.
  • At least 5 years’ experience of working in a hospital outpatient pharmacy or community pharmacy.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership, management or sole-charge role.
Additional skills you will have:
  • Drive, enthusiasm and initiative with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are essential
  • Ability to work in a bicultural environment and knowledge of the acute hospital environment
  • Pro-active and can-do approach with the ability to be flexible, work under pressure and work autonomously as well as in a team
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are essential, as well as the ability to develop close working relationships
