Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleAs the Project Manager you'll oversee the delivery of fire asset upgrades and compliance projects across the Central Region, within the Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG).You'll manage multiple capital works projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet Health NZ's high standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with internal teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver fire systems that protect patients, staff, and facilities.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of New Zealand's health infrastructure, ensuring our buildings and systems are safe, resilient, and future ready driving innovation and excellence in healthcare delivery.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe IIG team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system. Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, they understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.About youYou're a strategic leader who understands the critical role infrastructure plays in delivering safe, effective healthcare. You bring a deep understanding of fire safety systems and compliance, and you're passionate about creating environments where patients, staff, and communities are protected and supported.You know how to navigate competing priorities, tight timelines, and diverse stakeholder needs. You're confident managing large scale capital projects, and you bring a collaborative, solutions focused mindset to everything you do. You build strong relationships, foster trust, and inspire teams to deliver their best.And most importantly, you care. You are someone who actively contributes to a positive team culture and seeks to embody the values of Health NZ in everything you do. You understand that how you work is just as important as what you deliver, and you take pride in fostering an environment that is collaborative, inclusive, and aligned with shared purpose.You will bring:
  • A degree in engineering, construction, or project management
  • Certification in PMP®, PRINCE2, MSP™, or similar
  • 5+ years' experience managing capital projects, ideally in healthcare or government sectors
  • Strong knowledge of NZ building codes and fire compliance standards
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships and contractor performance
  • A practical, hands on approach with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Experience working in multicultural and diverse environments, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022
