Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this roleMō te tūnga | About the roleWithin the Armed Forces (RNZN, NZ Army, RNZAF) the established Non-Public Funds (NPF) benefit current and former members and their dependants.As a result, the Services look to the NPF Accountants as a key liaison for information pertaining to the operation of Service-specific NPF, and for assurance that they are making the best use of the available NPF and associated assets such as leave centres/holiday homes and Hire equipment. NPF Accountants therefore have a broad and interesting range of responsibilities.Key amongst these is supporting the NPF's in the areas of transactional accounting and general administration. This ensures that high quality, trusted financial information is available and financial advice and support is provided to the committees and the leaders of the NZDF, as well as ensuring all the NPFs are compliant with all of their legislative obligations and internal NZDF policies.The position works closely with the Service Team Leaders, Customer Service Agents administering NPF and NPF Committees to ensure the integrity of actuals, budgets and forecast information of a high standard, and timely, accurate and integrated financial information and advice is provided.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have 2+ years' practical skills and experience in management accounting and finance, with excellent stakeholder focus and service delivery skills.You'll bring:
  • Sound financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with finance systems.
  • Reconciliation experience.
  • Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, incorporating problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate technical financial information effectively to non-financial audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in a large organisation, preferably a public sector organisation would be advantageous.

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
  • You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
