A well-established national transport provider is seeking a skilled and motivated Linehaul Dispatcher to join their busy operations team. This role plays a critical part in the coordination of freight movements across New Zealand.About the RoleThis is a high-impact position responsible for planning and managing the daily movement of freight across the country. The role demands strategic thinking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Flexibility in working hours is essential. Experience in general freight is advantageous but not essential for candidates with strong dispatch or coordination backgrounds.Key Responsibilities
Plan and schedule nationwide deliveries and collections to optimise fleet performance
Allocate jobs to drivers and monitor vehicle movements in real time
Communicate effectively with drivers, contractors, warehouse teams, and customers
Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, driver hours, and health & safety standards
Identify and secure additional loads to maximise route profitability
Maintain accurate records using transport management systems
Support incident reporting, safety checks, and customer service excellence
Candidate Profile
1-3 years of experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, or transport operations
Strong planning, problem-solving, and time management skills
Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance (preferred)
Experience in general freight (ideal but not required)
Proficiency with dispatch software and Microsoft Office
Ability to remain calm under pressure, adapt quickly, and work collaboratively
Preferred Location - Wellington
