Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this is a newly created position and will be a significant contributor to delivering the company's R&D science program. Key responsibilities will include planning and performing research projects to support the development of our client's market launch products from concept though into a reproduceable manufacturing process. You'll also need to ensure the projects are delivering results that meet international medical device regulations. As you are joining the company in its very early stages, you'll have a real impact on the company's future and upcoming success.Please note, this job will require relocation as it is based in Palmerston North.About You, the Candidate:
Our client's I.P. is based around protein science and tissue regeneration, and so you must have a PhD in Biological/Biomedical/Biomaterial Sciences or similar and ideally previous experience in research and development of collagen-based materials for surgical applications in tissue regeneration and repair.With a company established and growing, you'll need to be able to put your hand to anything to support the successful development process. This means working collaboratively with colleagues and with leaders and researchers in the field. You'll be able to manage your time effectively, to keep both your and your junior team member's projects on track. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and characteristics:
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge of tissue regeneration/modelling
  • Ideally 3+ years commercial experience in biotech or medical device R&D
  • Experience in developing methods into manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Happy to be based in Palmerston North (essential).
