Are you able to come up with innovative strategies that meet the needs of a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders?If so, you could be just the person our Communications Team is looking for.Here at Whangārei District Council our continually developing culture is built around principles of delivering for our customers, our tikanga, and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for our community.To support us in our efforts we are looking for a Communications Business Partner who will provide wholesale communications support to our one of our operations groups and other areas of Council. As the successful candidate you'll develop and implement communications and engagement plans for your designated group, working with internal teams to make information easy to understand and accessible across a wide range of communication channels. To do this successfully you'll need to develop an effective understanding of all of Council's audience segments and how to reach them.Working from our centrally located, state of the art, civic facility our ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the following:
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or social sciences.
  • Knowledge (or ability to develop knowledge) of LGOIMA, Local Government Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate and mediate between the operational side of Council, the community and media.
  • A good understanding of Council's target audiences throughout the community and how to use a variety of communications channels to communicate effectively.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to influence others through development of strong working relationships and provision of clear well thought out advice.
  • Highly adept in the use of communication technology.
