Temuka, CanterburyKia hiwa rā!Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua is seeking a reliable and organised Ringawera to join our team, supporting the smooth running of our marae kitchen and wharekai. This role is central to ensuring that our manuhiri and whānau are well cared for with nutritious kai, and that our marae facilities are maintained to the highest standard.As Ringawera, you will:
  • Receive and manage catering bookings provided by the Marae Manager.
  • Plan menus that cater to dietary needs and align with the allocated budget.
  • Purchase and prepare food (using wholesale suppliers or local supermarkets, as required).
  • Cater for regular hui (including Rūnaka Hui, Executive Board Hui, Board Hui and Kaumātua meetings) and one-off marae bookings.
  • Ensure the wharekai is set up and cleaned after bookings, including laundry, dishes, floors, ovens, and chiller.
  • Complete regular deep cleans of kitchen facilities to maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards.

  • Has proven catering and food preparation experience.
  • Can confidently plan menus and work within budgets.
  • Understands food health and safety standards.
  • Is comfortable working independently, as well as alongside other kaimahi when required.
  • Holds a full, clean NZ driver's licence (required to use the marae van for shopping).
  • Has flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required by bookings.
  • Has a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to caring for the marae environment.
