Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Finance Associate, you will play a key role in the organisation's financial business partnering team to ensure the delivery of a range of financial management activities to the wider Live Life Disability team.The position reports to the Finance Manager and the focus is on providing service-centric and customer-focused value to meet the needs of the organisation. Regular risk analysis, variance reporting, costing, contract management oversight of funding, budgeting and financial forecasting are important elements to the position. There will be a strong rotational element to this role across the service.This is a fixed term role for 6 months, working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE) Monday to Friday between 8.00AM and 5.00PM.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe role will mainly be located with the finance business partnering team on the Braemar Campus at Nelson Hospital but will also at times reside with the Live Life Disability Support management and administration team providing the necessary financial management support.For more information on living and working in Nelson clickAbout youAs a Finance Associate, you will be a self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables and, under the guidance of the Finance Manager, you will produce high quality outputs within required timeframes.Your experience and qualifications should include:
  • Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or other relevant business discipline
  • Chartered Accountant (member of NZICA/CCANZ) or professional membership of professional accounting body is desirable but not essential
  • Extensive experience (4+ years) in a finance/accounting or public sector financial management field
  • Demonstrable experience in partnering with a business operation to deliver value
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering financial/accounting services in a large and complex organisation
  • The ability to analyse complex issues, provide solutions and communicate these clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Previous health sector and significant change experience would be desirable
