Mō te tūnga | About the role:We have two permanent, 30-hour-per-week Lifestyle Coordinator roles available at Peacehaven Village, each offering a unique opportunity to enrich the lives of our kaumātua (elders) through meaningful and culturally responsive program.One role is based in our Iona dementia care unit, where you will support up to 46 kaumātua living with cognitive challenges, including those in D3 and D6 level care. Working in Iona can be both rewarding and challenging, requiring empathy, resilience, and creativity as you design and deliver purposeful daily experiences tailored to each individual's physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural needs.The other role is based across our hospital and residential care areas, where you will engage with a diverse group of kaumātua to create enjoyable and innovative activities that promote wellbeing and connection.In both roles, you will play a central part in enhancing the lives of those in our care, bringing creativity, compassion, and cultural understanding to everything you do.These positions require leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating experiences that not only promote engagement but also enhance wellbeing and a sense of belonging and purpose among kaumātua. The role demands strong collaboration with clinical teams, whānau, and the wider community while upholding the organisation's core values of respect, compassion, whānau, community, and accountability.Ngā kawenga | Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, dementia-appropriate daily experiences that enhance the well being, independence, and enjoyment of our kaumātua.
  • Create monthly and weekly plans that reflect each person's cultural identity, interests, and abilities, in collaboration with whānau and the care team
  • Lead and coordinate group experiences and community outings, ensuring safety, participation, and meaningful engagement for all involved
  • Communicate effectively with kaumātua, whānau, and team members, fostering strong relationships and ensuring everyone is informed and involved.
Ngā pūkenga | What you will need to be successful:
  • Dementia LCP (Level 4), Health & Wellbeing (Level 4) or a Diversional Therapy qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar role, supporting elderly clients, with a genuine passion for enriching their daily lives
  • Confidence in leading group experiences, mentoring others, managing timetables, and coordinating events and outings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with whānau, colleagues, and clinical teams in a supportive and respectful way
  • A current full driver's licence is essential, along with the confidence to drive a van for community-based activities and outings.
