Job Description We are looking for a motivated 2ic who is looking for a new challenge or a Herd Manager who is ready to step up into the roll. If you know how to feed cows to their potential and still able to hit residuals day after day or have the basics down and keen to learn more, we want to hear from you. We run a grass-based system with silage and grain in shed for the shoulders of the season so attention to detail on grazing is a must.
500 cows,36HB, inshed feeding, ACRs with Cow Manager, covered calving pad.Must be self-motivated, eye for detail as we as a business are looking at getting everything we can out of wearable tech from health to nutrition.
Farm is 160 Ha 10 mins from Clydevale 30 min from both Balclutha and Gore. Cows wintered off.
Honesty, reliability and a willingness to grow and learn are essential for this role.
The role will invole assisting with farm duties,
milking, pasture management, feeding out, farm maintenance, calving and calf rearing and other tasks as required. One person shed after AB so plenty of time out of shed in summer.
You will be expected to have good communication skills, being able to take charge when sharemilker is away.
Able to drive tractors, ride both 2 and 4 wheelers, drug free.
casual work available for partner (calf rearing, milking) plenty of other farms around the area looking for relief staff as well.
