You'll work directly with residents, community groups, iwi organisations and businesses to encourage and assist their efforts to reduce emissions and adapt to climate impacts. A key part of the role involves providing support to the Climate and Sustainability Fund, ensuring applicants are well-supported and funding processes are robust and transparent.This is a full-time fixed-term position until October 2026, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in our city.Āu ake mahi | What you'll doYou'll contribute to the design and delivery of community climate action initiatives, providing advice and support to individuals, groups, and organisations. You'll build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across Wellington and connect people and organisations with shared goals and activities. You'll also support the development of tools and resources-such as workshops, guidelines, policies and delivering events-that enable effective climate action.Engaging with stakeholders will be a key part of your role. You'll understand and incorporate diverse perspectives, including cultural and accessibility considerations, and influence decision-making to achieve positive climate outcomes. You'll also collaborate with other Council business units working on related issues such as waste, food, and community services.Teamwork is essential. You'll support and back up other members of the Climate Action Support Team, contribute to the completion of shared work, and help identify opportunities to improve work practices and systems.We are looking to appoint between $90,060 and $105,952 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.Ngā tohu me ngā wheako | Qualifications and experienceYou'll have a relevant tertiary qualification or at least three years' experience in community climate action, co-creation, or social enterprise. You'll understand what makes community-led climate initiatives effective and have experience supporting communities-ideally in climate change or another complex area.You'll be familiar with the community and funding sectors, and skilled at building strong, collaborative relationships. Your ability to influence, connect, and work strategically with others will be key.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. You'll also be a confident communicator, able to engage with diverse groups and present information clearly.
